Despite doing a challenging course, studying has not always been something I found easy. Over the years, I have found my own methods of making learning enjoyable, and am a strong believer in working smarter, not necessarily harder. Whether practicing for entrance exams or making anatomy notes, I have several effective revision techniques at the ready and am looking forward to sharing these with others to enable them to grow to enjoy studying as I have.
I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to start tutoring from a relatively young age which has afforded me the experience to improve as a tutor. I acted as a Maths, French, and English leader in high school where I was able to teach primary school students. In college, I became a Chemistry mentor and helped first-year students with any areas or questions they were struggling with. I also currently act as a 'medic parent' so give advice and provide resources to those beginning their degree.
My general plan for sessions is to go over desired topics, show methods for answering exam questions, and then provide feedback/assistance wherever necessary. Throughout this, I aim to help students in working out which learning and revision style works best for them. All of this will be conducted in a hopefully stimulating and understandable way, and I will of course adapt to any feedback.
Looking forward to working with you!

When first meeting new students I like to spend part of our first session getting to know each other as I believe that having a comfortable environment is key to learning. We will discuss their own revision techniques, methods they would like to try, and any specific topics that they have difficulty with. From this we are able to formulate a plan and set targets together. These help me to measure progress but I also plan a review session at the end of each topic which allows us to highlight areas of strength as well as those that require improvement.
Ultimately, I think that learning should be collaborative so I am always receptive to the ideas and feedback of my students.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
