Having developed a keen passion for reading from an early age, and studying a vast array of literature from Shakespeare to twentieth century dystopia (which I wrote my dissertation on), I have a real passion in sharing my excitement of the subject and demonstrating how learning English is always fun! My own enthusiasm towards English will translate into my lessons where I strive to create an engaging and insightful learning environment. I also believe that studying English is imperative in developing key communicative and creative skills which can really help build confidence and create the foundations for taking the next step into higher education or employment (an area which I can offer my own personal experiences as advice).
During Sixth Form, I also held the position of English Subject Ambassador where I fulfilled a role of tutoring and helping a lower school student in areas which included structuring essays, improving grammar and punctuation and analytical writing.

My lessons focus around a singular aim: ensuring my pupil gets the most out of the lesson which I provide. In order for the lessons I supply to be as beneficial as possible for each student, every tutorial will be individually tailored around the ways in which the pupil learns best. My tutorials will be planned around not only the teachers' notes which will be provided to me but also through discussions with the student directly. My lessons will focus on both learning through specific examination tailored activities (past exam papers, example exam questions and timed activities) and also more discussion based activities which utilise the interactive whiteboard as a visual teaching tool.
But fundamentally, the most important part of my sessions will be maintaining a balance between hard work and fun! For a tutorial to be successful it is imperative that the student is actively participating and enjoying the lesson as I fully believe that enjoyment leads to engagement, which ultimately leads to better academic results.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
