Hello! I've recently graduated from the University of Leeds with a First Class Honours degree in Biology. I achieved a First Class in my dissertation as well as the top grades on my course for three consecutive years. I have been passionate about my love for science and nature since a young age and have 1000+ hrs experience tutoring online and 4+ years working with students.

As well as KS3, GCSE, A-Level and University level Biology, I offer tuition in all Sciences & English at GCSE and below as well as GCSE & A-Level Geography for all exam boards.

I achieved A* in Biology at both GCSE and A-Level (both with AQA) and my dedication to the subject has only increased as I have studied it at Uni. I achieved an A in GCSE Chemistry, Physics, English Language and an A* in GCSE & A-Level Geography.

I have years of experience in boosting students confidence, explaining content in clear ways and practising exam technique in order to get my students as many marks as possible in their exams.

I have worked as a Field Studies Instructor where I taught GCSE/A-Level courses using nature and the outdoors as our classroom and I am currently working for a new online education start-up to create video courses for GCSE science. As well as tutoring, I love to travel, hike and bake. I spent summer 2022 travelling around the UK and hiked the tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales!

I am fully aware of how difficult grasping concepts and learning can be for some! Students need concepts explained to them in a clear and concise manner. I start my lessons by reinforcing key concepts & what we learnt the previous week before going through the syllabus in an orderly manner. At the end of every topic I will do mini-quizzes to test topic knowledge before working on exam questions together, providing model answers and techniques to squeeze the most marks out of each question on the paper.

The ability of a student to explain concepts back to me is a keystone of them understanding these concepts. They should be able to do my job by the end of the session!

I determine a students type of learning (e.g. visual, auditory, written) and tailor my lessons to their form of learning (e.g. providing visual demonstrations, written explanations etc.). I have a bank of resources that I use for my lesson, as well as creating tailored notes and summary pages on the MyTutor whiteboard which my students can download and keep for revision.

I fully understand the importance of a tutor, having had a Spanish tutor for 2 years myself during my A-Levels. They not only form a key pillar in a students learning but also act as a friendly face and safe space to ask questions and learn without the worry of getting things wrong. I try my best to create a calm and warm atmosphere during the sessions and breakdown barriers to make students feel at home.
