Through my academic journey, I've honed learning and revision techniques to consistently achieve the highest grades: 11 A*s at GCSE, 4 A*s at A-Level, and distinctions in medical exams. I find it to be truly fulfilling to share these skills and witness my tutees unlocking their full potential.
Teaching is something I am passionate about and with five years of experience spanning KS2, KS3, GCSE, and A-Level, I'm well-prepared to assist you in grasping challenging concepts. My tutoring repertoire covers a wide range of subjects, including Maths, English, and the sciences. I am currently working towards earning an Undergraduate Certificate in Medical Education, alongside my degree, which has equipped me with valuable teaching skills that I utilise in my tutoring. Currently, I'm focused on teaching A-Level Biology and Chemistry, as well as mentoring aspiring medics.
While I have a go-to teaching style, detailed below, I firmly believe in personalised learning. I prioritise adaptability and tailor my approach to suit each individual's learning preferences.
I've personally faced the rigors of the Medicine admissions process and understand the pivotal role the UCAT plays in securing an interview. I achieved a 790 average and SJT Band 1, placing me in the top 1% of candidates. At university, I've led UCAT tuition sessions and take great joy in mentoring future medics, helping them turn their aspirations into reality.

I employ an interactive approach to tutoring, centered around a question-and-answer format. I'll introduce topics, prompting you to articulate your grasp of them while I address any gaps and deepen your understanding. This method is highly effective for solidifying both long-term memory and conceptual comprehension. Additionally, I rely on visual aids such as diagrams, recognising their potency in illustrating key concepts, especially for visual learners. Given the process-oriented nature of Biology, diagrams prove invaluable in enhancing comprehension of these intricate processes.
To assess your understanding, I consistently integrate past papers and exam-style questions into our sessions. Mastering exam technique is paramount for achieving top marks at A-Level. Understanding what examiners seek in responses often carries as much weight as knowing the content itself. Consequently, incorporating exam questions into our sessions forms a substantial part of my tutoring approach.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
