Hi! My name is Daniel and I am a Honours graduate of English Literature from the University of Glasgow!
I have been tutoring on MyTutor for the past 3 years and am more than familiar with the structures of English as a subject in both the English and Scottish education systems.
I am really passionate about English and I love exploring the ways in which texts make us feel and think. I love all the forms in which people deploy the English Language to scrutinise, legitimise, and realise ideologies and narratives. My favourite kind of poems are sonnets with Sonnet, To Science by Edgar Allan Poe and In An Artist's Studio by Christina Rossetti being my two favourites.
I really wanted to get into tutoring English because I understand that the subject can appear quite tiresome and laborious to study. I want to show students new ways of approaching texts and help them to enjoy the subject as much as I have come to in my academic career. I think that I am able to explain concepts in depth whilst also remaining concise. I think of myself as a very personable and sociable person and I believe that these qualities will make the subject much more digestible for students. As a student , I was constantly learning and will encourage those who I tutor to review and assess literary works for themselves so we can share ideas and approaches as they come to mind!
I look forward to working with you and thank you for taking the time to read this!

Analysing set texts or literature is achieved in a similar fashion. Regardless of what text the student is studying, I will make sure to dissect the text from start to finish with them. I have found that this provides the student with much needed context and understanding that can sometimes be missed in less personalised educational models. I have also found that this approach encourages the student to provide their own interpretations of text and allows them to enjoy texts that they may otherwise be apathetic to.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
