Hiya! I would love to get to know you and hopefully help you with your studies of English or Drama, at GCSE or A Level!
I studied English Literature at Durham University and a Master's in Acting (Performance) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and have always been really passionate about these subjects, studying them at A Level and receiving A*s in both. I studied English Literature at Durham University and a Master's in Acting (Performance) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and have always been really passionate about these subjects, studying them at A Level and receiving A*s in both. Whether you love studying English and/or Drama, really struggle with them or find yourself anywhere in-between, I would love to help!
I am a really keen performer, and have been involved in number of shows at Uni so far, allowing me to be able to understand plays in both English and Drama from a different perspective, as I know what it is like to bring a story to life with a live audience, instead of just reading a play in class! I am a big Shakespeare fan (and a huge theatre-goer in general!) and have seen lots of productions at The Globe and the RSC, so I am very happy to explore some of the themes of his work with you, too!
I would be keen to delve deeper into any aspects of either subject that you find tricky, or would like to analyse further - I am always up for discussing and questioning ideas. Ultimately, I would encourage you to form your own conclusions from our discussions, as I think so much of both English and Drama relies on individual interpretation which is then transferred into structured arguments and theories. I am would be very excited to hear your ideas and work through them with you!
I will always prepare extensively for lessons - I would make sure I had read and analysed any texts we were going to look at, and had a good understanding of the wider historical and literary contexts, as well as knowledge of the author and their context or influences.

It would partly depend on what we were studying as to how I would structure a session, but I would plan it beforehand in order to make the most of the time. It would most likely involve a discussion at the beginning, so that we could make sure we are both on the same page and I could check that I had understood what you were hoping to get out of the lesson, before delving into the text/theme/idea/language/performance we were focusing on in the session. I would want sessions to be very interactive and question and discussion-based, and then we would have a quick debrief at the end, to check we had met the goals of the session, and you were happy with what we had learnt and studied.
I would hope to measure progress by seeing you input skills from previous sessions into current sessions, and also by hopefully observing your thought pattern and approach changing as you become more confident and practiced adapting to different types of essay questions. It would be particularly important to encourage you to adopt a good mindset when tackling questions, which works for you (and the mark scheme!), and that you can transfer across and use when approaching multiple questions.
