I have recently graduated from my undergraduate music degree at the University of Sheffield with first class honours and two prizes for the best composition portfolio and the overall highest mark. I joined MyTutor because I want to help young people with their studies. I started tutoring at the height of the pandemic so I understand that young people's education was, and still is, hugely affected and school can be difficult. By helping my students build their confidence in the subject they are struggling with, we work together to help them improve and enjoy learning.

I am passionate about the arts; I play the trumpet and piano and I was part of many music ensembles at university. I held senior committee roles in two of these during full time study so I'm used to staying organised! I am currently studying an MA in Musical Direction at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

I still find deadlines and exams daunting - it's important to know you're not the only one! - but I find that staying relaxed and knowing you've prepared in the best way for you is really good to keep in mind.

Ultimately, I structure our lessons in a way that works for your young person but we'll work on what they feel they're struggling with in the way that they want to learn so that they can achieve the goals they want to achieve. For example, if it's essay writing they want to work on, we will go through some sample questions together, discussing methods of approach and focussing on relevant content so that when they're faced with essay questions they know how to approach them with confidence.

I schedule in my own preparation time for every lesson so that I come prepared to every lesson and your young person feels reassured and engaged. I send a summary after every session and I often send useful learning resources too.
