I have been actively teaching for a few years and have done vast research into modern teaching theory, specialising in how the brain learns. I have a passion for both my subject and teaching, as my desired career path is teaching high school Physics.
I actively review the curriculum for A level Physics and Maths for all the major exam boards to stay informed on the examinable content and the expected exam techniques. My tutoring style is very adaptable as I am able to not only deliver content for the first time in a lecture-style lesson but also provide support on topics helping with exam technique and challenging strong ability students.
The content I deliver is based around, but not limited to, the exam specification. I regularly explain related topics outside of the specification of the course to provide context to the material they are learning, this often helps students understand the topic better.
My lessons revolve around the Engage, Build, Consolidate model of learning as there is scientific evidence to suggest that this is the way our brains remember information for the long term.
I like to ask recall questions verbally at the start of the lesson to get the student warmed up and engaged, followed by explaining the content in a constructive dialogue to build up their knowledge. Finally, I like to test them on what they have learned with exam-style questions.

When I am teaching, I also like to provide synaptic links between topics, as in reality Physics is not made up of standalone topics - it is all connected, this provides the students with a deeper appreciation of the physical principles, and it is good practice for their paper 3 exam. I also build topics from the ground up to be extra sure I haven’t missed any assumptions or minute points that would make understanding the topic easier.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
