Hi, I’m Martine, and I am a first-year law student. I chose to study Law at university because it is an intellectually challenging but rewarding course, and I felt that the skills and knowledge from this course will open several opportunities and career paths in the future. I am gaining experience in tutoring through this experience and volunteering during my free time to students from disadvantaged backgrounds because I believe that a child’s background should not affect their opportunities. I am an avid bookworm and take pride in the book reading club which discusses a book every month, but I also love being active by going to the gym.

I hope to offer virtual tutoring sessions that are interactive and engaging for all students of any age. My lessons will mostly focus on what the student believes they are weak at and help them achieve their aspirations. I think that despite guiding students in achieving their target grades, it is more or so important to improve a child’s confidence in that they can achieve anything if ultimately believe in themselves. Therefore, I aim to also help students in doing several reflection sessions so that students can see their progression and give them the mindset that they are capable of everything. When I was preparing for my exams, I realised that this method really helped me ground myself and was a great source of motivation as it allowed me to envision how much progress I have made, and how I can ultimately overcome any challenges.
