Hello I'm Lucy!
I'm a soon-to-be PhD graduate that has focused on immunology within children based at University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital. My favourite subject is biology because I find it so interesting and there is still so much to learn! Throughout my scientific training I had many opportunities to teach within the lab and in theory from summer interns all the way to medical doctors and I'm looking forward to sharing my skills and knowledge with you! Having gone through 3 higher degrees I can also help answer questions on university and what it's really like. I believe to truly understand a subject it's important to lay down the foundation as strong as possible in order to build on the specifics. I work at the pace you are comfortable with and I like to explain problems or concepts in many different examples as sometimes the traditional way of explaining doesn't always do the trick! My approach is very much a partnership with the student instead of a lecturer approach to pinpoint the issues the student has and address them specifically.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the MyTutor team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 8 becomes a tutor on our site.
